Located at the heart of Pripyat on Lenin Square, the Palace of Culture "Energetik" was once a key gathering place for the city’s residents. Built in the early 1970s, it hosted everything from concerts and film screenings to sports, dance, and political meetings.
Like thousands of other Palaces of Culture across the Soviet Union, it was designed as a hub for leisure, learning, and ideological messaging. The name "Energetik" plays on the dual meaning of "energetic" and "power plant worker," reflecting the identity of the town built to serve the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
This stairwell once led to a cinema, library, gymnasium, and a range of activity halls. Now, only cracked tiles, scattered debris, and fading murals remain, including this vibrant one celebrating Soviet ideals. Just behind the building stands the famous Ferris wheel, another symbol of what was abruptly left behind.

Printing
- Your print is produced in-house at Gina Soden’s studio. The quality of your artwork is important, once printed Gina Soden personally checks each artwork individually.
- Prints are produced using Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm Giclee, a premium quality paper, which is perfect for Gina Soden’s brightly coloured and textured images. This archival paper sets the benchmark for high colour depth and image definition.
Framing
- Your artwork will then be framed to conservation standard
- The frame profile will be approx 40mm wide by 30mm deep.
- Off-white textured acid free mount.
- 2mm clear standard picture glass (UV protected 66%) Low reflection option available.
- Mounted onto acid free backing board.
- 2mm Kraftboard back.
- Fixings are included for hanging.
Delivery
- Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery.
- Unframed works will be sent in a tube via a signed delivery service.
- Framed works will be safely packaged, crated and insured and will then be delivered via a courier or international shipper.
