This huge site of 430,000 m² was a very attractive place to shoot, including this huge factory floor taken over by nature. This factory plant in Italy was founded in the early 1900's.
It was initially dedicated only for the production of viscose rayon. However, silk became scarce during World War II, so nylon was intended to be a synthetic replacement for silk. It replaced silk in military applications such as parachutes and flak vests, and was used in many types of vehicle tires.
In 1982 the production of viscose stopped because of the oil crisis, competition from foreign countries, and the introduction of new environmental regulations. Nylon production continued here until 2003 and then the whole complex was closed. Most of the site has now been demolished.
