Awarded Grade II listing status in 1980, Battersea Power Station is of significant importance in London. It started producing electricity in 1935 and at it's peak, produced a fifth of London's power. I visited in 2013 to photograph Battersea just as the groundwork for renovation was beginning. This section of the Powerstation - Side A - was built between 1929 and 1931. Control Room A boasted incredible Art Deco detailing including teak parquet flooring, walls tiled in grey Italian marble offset by black Belgian marble with a superb gold-painted coffered glass ceiling.
