Volatile Memory was photographed in an abandoned power station in Romania
In this work, fragments of found papers and materials from abandoned sites are layered onto a gessoed panel to create a textured foundation. Paint, threads, ink and mediums are used to extend and interrupt these surfaces, introducing structural lines and marks that respond to the architecture of the original space. The photographic image, captured inside the abandoned power station, is then printed directly onto the collaged surface. Because the print remains partially transparent, the underlying materials remain visible, allowing the physical textures and fragments to merge with the photograph.
By embedding the remnants of place within the image itself, the work moves between documentation and material memory, combining photography, collage, and painting into a single layered surface.
