This was photographed in an abandoned hospital in Italy. After fighting my way through thick undergrowth, scrambling up a steep hill and holding onto rotten tree roots for support, I finally made it up onto a path. Always cautious; I didn't stay in view too long before another scramble was made. I was filthy, covered in mud and sweating profusely. Eventually getting to the top and brushing myself down, I was very pleased to see an open door. A slight sense of anxiety came over me walking in the dark in the basement, but as soon as I saw the foot of this staircase, that all but disappeared. After walking to the top floor to see an impressive view, I walked to the stairs and just sat down, and took it all in. What an incredible building!
