This beautiful villa was built in the 17th century for a local priest and was then later the home of a famous architect and geologist. A family member who had inherited this beautiful villa very kindly allowed me access inside. It was quite a change of pace from the usual schedule. I loved seeing the huge green doors with a solid brass hand door knocker. Unusually for me, I used their key to get inside and the magical experience continued from that moment. The gardens and overgrowing wisteria leaves were a sight to behold.

The main house had huge amounts of interesting dusty objects left behind, including architectural books, plans, stones and crystals (the former owner was a geologist!) and dusty rooms and amazing vintage furniture but I was more taken with this atrium with its tall frescoed vaulted ceilings and beautiful chandelier being taking over by the wisteria, almost strangling it and pulling it down! On the left side of this atrium sat a quiet chapel, so small and dark that you would not realise it was there at first and on the right, a corridor into the main house with tall arched windows shrouded with thick wisteria stems, blocking the hot summer rays.
